about

‘astraea’ is a prime example of ephemerals once again exploring new musical territories with a new expansive sound. Astraea fuses together simple repetitive motifs à la Steve Reich in a constantly evolving and building mesh of sonic textures. Featuring deep lyrics drawing comparisons between the complex physics of the universe and people it’s an emotive and touching track that will have you reaching for the repeat button.

Balancing out the single release of 'astarea' nicely the B-side ‘and if we could, we’d say’ is a more familiar face of ephemerals. As the instrumentalists flex their jazz tinged, hip hop chops Wolf’s ice cool New York drawl channels Gil Scott-Heron in a spoken-word piece urging creatives to “leave the city” and be free outside the confines of a stereotypical 9-5 working life.
